HOLLYWONT

Cinemavixion Review

Davon, an aspiring filmmaker weary of Hollywood's often-caricatured depictions of urban life, embarks on a peculiar mentorship with a pimp named Tony. This independent film, 'Hollywont,' offers a gritty yet darkly comedic exploration of ambition colliding with unconventional guidance. Coke Daniels directs with a clear vision, drawing a compelling performance from the late, great Tom Lister Jr. in one of his final roles, alongside notable turns from Eddie Griffin and David Faustino. The narrative skillfully navigates the fine line between satire and social commentary, questioning the true cost of chasing dreams in an industry that often prioritizes illusion over authenticity. 'Hollywont' serves as a poignant reminder of Lister Jr.'s enduring talent and delivers a thought-provoking, if unconventional, cinematic experience.
