HOLISTAY

Cinemavixion Review

Mary Gallagher's 'HOLISTAY' plunges viewers into a disquieting scenario where two unsuspecting couples find themselves double-booked in a San Diego vacation rental. As the narrative unfolds, the idyllic setting quickly devolves into a canvas for unsettling events, underscored by the chilling mantra, "Things are not as they appear." While the film may explore familiar territory in the thriller genre, its strength lies in the escalating tension and the subtle unraveling of comfort. The performances, particularly from Erin Gavin and Gabriela Kulaif, anchor the psychological unease. Directed by Gallagher, who also co-wrote the script, 'HOLISTAY' (2023) offers a compact, intriguing mystery that questions the veneer of pleasantries and the hidden currents beneath seemingly ordinary circumstances. It's a film that invites contemplation on trust and perception, making for a thought-provoking watch for fans of domestic suspense.
