HILL 60: THE SINGLE LARGEST EXPLOSION OF THE GREAT WAR

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges viewers into the brutal landscape of December 1914, a pivotal moment in the Great War where trench warfare had stalemated the conflict. The narrative vividly recounts the innovative, albeit terrifying, resurgence of mining as a weapon. Soldiers, facing seemingly impenetrable defenses, resurrected and modernized this subterranean tactic to shatter enemy fortifications. The film masterfully illustrates the grim ingenuity born from the desperate conditions of the Western Front, highlighting how this 'old weapon' became a crucial, destructive force in a new era of warfare. It's a stark portrayal of the psychological and physical toll of siege warfare, leading up to what is described as the single largest explosion of the Great War.
