HICKOK

Cinemavixion Review

Timothy Woodward Jr.'s "Hickok" plunges viewers into the dusty, unforgiving landscape of the American West, offering a gritty portrayal of the legendary Wild Bill Hickok, brought to life by a compelling performance from Luke Hemsworth. The film smartly positions Hickok not just as a gunslinger, but as a man seeking solace from his notorious past, finding an unlikely role as marshal in the frontier town of Abilene. The narrative gains depth with the inclusion of veteran actor Kris Kristofferson as the mayor, whose casting adds a significant gravitas to the proceedings. While the plot centers on Hickok's attempts to bring order to a lawless town, it is the looming threat of outlaws and the internal struggle of its protagonist that truly drive the tension. With a solid Western ensemble including Trace Adkins, "Hickok" is a commendable exploration of justice, reputation, and the enduring myth of the American frontier.
