HERETIC

Cinemavixion Review

Peter Handford's 'Heretic' plunges viewers into a chilling exploration of guilt and spiritual torment. Set in a desolate mansion, the film masterfully builds atmosphere as Father James grapples with the suicide of a young parishioner he felt responsible for. The narrative takes a supernatural turn, suggesting a vengeful haunting that mirrors James's own internal damnation. Andrew Squires delivers a compelling performance as the tormented priest, his descent into despair palpable. While the film may not boast widespread critical acclaim, its commitment to a dark, psychological horror is commendable. For fans of atmospheric ghost stories with a theological undercurrent, 'Heretic' offers a haunting, albeit bleak, cinematic experience that lingers long after the credits roll.
