Piero Pierotti's 'Heads or Tails' (1969) offers a gritty, albeit unconventional, entry into the Western genre. John Ericson delivers a stoic performance as the Black Talisman, a figure of both menace and nascent morality. Spela Rozin's portrayal of Shanda is central to the film's darker themes, navigating a harrowing journey of violation and resilience. The film bravely touches upon disturbing elements, including the shocking depiction of mob violence, which, while challenging, underscores its commitment to exploring the brutal realities faced by its characters.
