HE TURNED A PARADISE INTO A HELL. THE TRUE STORY OF CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the complex and often brutal legacy of Christopher Columbus, portraying his voyages not as a triumphant discovery, but as a catalyst for immense suffering. The narrative highlights Columbus's resilience in the face of numerous personal hardships—naval battles, shipwrecks, and imprisonment—while simultaneously chronicling the devastating impact of his arrival on indigenous populations. It’s a stark reminder of how ambition and the pursuit of wealth can transform perceived paradises into hells, raising critical questions about exploration, colonization, and the enduring consequences of historical actions. The film challenges viewers to confront the darker aspects of this pivotal historical figure, moving beyond romanticized notions to a more critical and somber understanding.
