HAY FOOT

Cinemavixion Review

"Hay Foot" offers a charming glimpse into military camaraderie and the humorous situations that arise from misplaced pride and mistaken identities. Set in 1942, this comedy centers on Sergeant Doubleday, a soldier with an extraordinary memory whose academic prowess inadvertently embarrasses his instructor, Sergeant Ames. The narrative cleverly unfolds as Colonel Barkley misinterprets Doubleday's abilities, leading to a high-stakes shooting match. William Tracy and Joe Sawyer deliver commendable performances, anchoring the film with their dynamic. Director Fred Guiol masterfully balances the comedic elements with the underlying themes of competence and perception. While the film may not boast grand accolades, its tight runtime and engaging plot make it a delightful watch for those seeking a lighthearted, character-driven story from Hollywood's Golden Age.
