HARRIGAN

Cinemavixion Review

Set against the bleak backdrop of a crime-ridden sink estate in northern England, 'Harrigan' offers a gritty portrayal of community resilience. The film, directed by Vincent Woods, stars Stephen Tompkinson as the weary Detective Sergeant Barry Harrigan, a man fighting to preserve decency amidst societal decay. The narrative, unfolding during a period of industrial strife and power cuts, effectively captures a sense of desperation. Tompkinson anchors the film with a compelling performance, supported by Gillian Kearney and Ronnie Fox, as they navigate the harsh realities of their environment. While the film received a challenging reception, as indicated by its critical scores, it serves as a potent, albeit somber, exploration of law enforcement's role in fractured communities and the enduring human spirit in the face of adversity.
