HAROLD RISKS IT ALL

Cinemavixion Review

John Hawkes delivers a compelling performance as Harold Buttleman, a man teetering on the edge of his dreams in "Harold Risks It All." This offbeat comedy plunges into the life of a small-town tuxedo salesman with aspirations far grander than his current reality, envisioning himself as the next Evel Knievel. The narrative cleverly contrasts Harold's daredevil ambitions with the mundane expectations of his parents and girlfriend, who urge him towards a more conventional path. As Harold prepares for what he believes will be his big break, a late-night cable access spot, the film explores the often-unseen struggles behind pursuing a passion. The story culminates in a town-wide gala, hinting at both triumph and unforeseen complications, making for an engaging exploration of ambition, reality, and the courage it takes to chase an improbable dream, especially one involving being shot out of a cannon.
