HANSEL VS GRETEL

Cinemavixion Review

In the modern retelling of a classic fairy tale, 'Hansel VS Gretel' plunges viewers into a dark, contemporary world where the siblings are no longer children lost in the woods, but hardened individuals facing supernatural threats. This 2015 horror-thriller, directed by Ben Demaree, sees Hansel return to his hometown only to discover a sinister plot orchestrated by his own sister, Gretel, who has fallen under a dark spell and leads a coven of witches. The film attempts to weave a narrative of familial bonds tested by dark magic and courage against overwhelming odds. While the premise offers a unique twist on the familiar story, the execution, as reflected in its modest IMDb rating of 3.0/10, suggests a struggle to fully capitalize on its intriguing concept. 'Hansel VS Gretel' is a testament to the enduring appeal of fairy tale adaptations, even when venturing into the grittier realms of horror, offering a serviceable, if not entirely groundbreaking, cinematic experience for fans of the genre.
