HANSEL & GRETEL

Cinemavixion Review

This modern interpretation of the Grimm Brothers' cautionary tale, 'Hansel & Gretel,' plunges viewers into a chilling contemporary nightmare. Set against a backdrop of secluded woods, the narrative centers on siblings ensnared by a deranged captor within her macabre abode. The film, directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, features a notable performance from genre veteran Dee Wallace, whose presence lends a disturbing gravitas to the role of the antagonist. While the IMDb rating suggests a divisive reception, the film's strength lies in its grim atmosphere and its unflinching commitment to a dark, unsettling premise. It offers a brutal, albeit low-budget, reimagining that taps into primal fears of abandonment and entrapment, proving to be a potent, albeit grim, viewing experience for fans of horror's darker corners.
