HAMLET AND HUTCH

Cinemavixion Review

Jared and Matthew Young's "Hamlet And Hutch" offers a poignant exploration of memory, family, and the enduring power of theater. The film centers on a former Broadway luminary, grappling with Alzheimer's, who finds an unexpected stage in a small Southern town. His journey, alongside his granddaughter Tatum and her spirited daughter Liv, culminates in a charmingly earnest production of Shakespeare's "Hamlet." Burt Reynolds delivers a performance that resonates with both the grandeur of his past and the vulnerability of his present condition. The narrative delicately balances the challenges of degenerative illness with the joy of shared artistic creation, highlighting how connection and purpose can bloom even in the twilight years. It's a heartwarming tale that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the intergenerational bonds forged through storytelling.
