HAIL MARY!

Cinemavixion Review

In the quirky sports comedy "Hail Mary!", director Ziad H. Hamzeh presents a ludicrous premise that somehow manages to entertain. The film grapples with the dire state of a professional football franchise that has suffered an astonishing thirty-two consecutive losses. The desperate solution? To recruit a legion of gargantuan sumo wrestlers, each weighing over 600 pounds, to form a formidable offensive line. Their mission: to protect the team's star quarterback, O'Rourke, from the relentless onslaught of opposing defenses. Starring Eddie Mekka, She, and Joomin Hwang, this 2018 independent feature leans heavily into its absurd concept, offering a unique blend of sports underdog story and sheer comedic spectacle. While the film may not have garnered widespread critical acclaim, its "2 wins" according to external data suggest some recognition within its niche. With a runtime of 90 minutes, "Hail Mary!" is a memorable, albeit unconventional, cinematic experience that dares to ask "what if?" with delightful abandon.
