HADES: INSIDE THE REAL UNDERWORLD OF ANCIENT GREECE | TALKING TO THE DEAD | ABSOLUTE HISTORY

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary from Absolute History delves into the fascinating concept of the Greek underworld, exploring a network of ancient man-made tunnels in Italy that may have served as a physical gateway to the realm of the dead. The narrative draws parallels between ancient literature, which describes living individuals consulting oracles to commune with the deceased and seek prophecies, and the physical construction of these subterranean passages. The filmmakers posit that these tunnels were ingeniously designed to simulate a descent into 'the core of the earth,' thereby convincing visitors they were embarking on a journey to Hell itself. This exploration offers a compelling look at how ancient civilizations integrated myth, ritual, and engineered environments to grapple with mortality and the unknown.
