HACKER

Cinemavixion Review

The 2016 thriller "Hacker" plunges viewers into the shadowy world of cybercrime, following Alex, a Ukrainian immigrant whose quest for financial security for his family spirals into a personal vendetta against the global banking system. Callan McAuliffe delivers a compelling performance as Alex, navigating the treacherous landscape of online fraud, identity theft, and stock market manipulation. Under Akan Satayev's direction, the film adeptly captures the allure and danger of the dark web, aided by strong supporting turns from Lorraine Nicholson and Daniel Eric Gold. While the narrative occasionally strains under the weight of its ambitious plot, "Hacker" offers a gripping look at the consequences of unchecked ambition and the corrosive power of technology. It's a timely exploration of digital vulnerability and the complex motivations that can drive individuals to exploit it, making for an engaging, if sometimes morally ambiguous, cinematic experience.
