GUNFIGHT AT COLD CROSS

Cinemavixion Review

William McCarthy's somber journey into the heart of darkness, embodied by the desolate town of Cold Cross, forms the grim narrative spine of this revenge Western. Director Dylan Query crafts a world steeped in shadow and consequence, where the protagonist's quest for retribution against his parents' murderers becomes a profound exploration of the cyclical nature of violence. Jacob Stieneker delivers a stoic performance as McCarthy, his silent intensity conveying a depth of pain and resolve. The supporting cast, including Bobby Christman and Michaela Semak, effectively populate this grim landscape, each character contributing to the pervasive atmosphere of distrust and simmering danger. While the film delves into familiar revenge tropes, Query's assured direction and the committed performances elevate it, offering a thoughtful, albeit bleak, meditation on justice and its cost.
