GUNCRAZY

Cinemavixion Review

Tamra Davis's "Guncrazy" plunges into the dark heart of teenage alienation and violent rebellion, anchored by a raw and fearless performance from Drew Barrymore. The film charts the destructive spiral of Anita, a young woman whose experiences of abuse ignite a volatile mix of desire and rage. Barrymore embodies Anita with a potent blend of vulnerability and terrifying impulsivity, making her descent into a life of crime and murder both disturbing and tragically compelling. Co-star James Le Gros provides a fittingly disoriented counterpoint as the ex-convict drawn into her orbit. While the narrative embraces a certain trashy aesthetic, it grapples with themes of trauma, sexuality, and the allure of transgression, offering a provocative, albeit unsettling, character study. The film's gritty realism and Barrymore's committed portrayal make "Guncrazy" a noteworthy, if challenging, entry in the crime drama genre.
