Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a compelling glimpse into the tumultuous life of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, a pivotal figure in the Pre-Raphaelite movement. The episode masterfully weaves together Rossetti's artistic genius with his deeply personal struggles, particularly his passionate and illicit affair with Jane Morris. Set against the picturesque surroundings of Kelmscott Manor, the narrative explores how his complex relationships and battles with addiction cast a shadow over his considerable artistic achievements. The program effectively portrays the duality of Rossetti's character, showcasing how his art, imbued with medieval romanticism and modern emotional depth, continues to resonate. It serves as an insightful exploration of an artist whose personal life was as dramatic and captivating as his canvases.
