GORY GORY HALLELUJAH

Cinemavixion Review

Sue Corcoran's "Gory Gory Hallelujah" presents a provocative and darkly comedic journey, following four aspiring actors vying for the role of Jesus. When their theatrical ambitions are dashed, they embark on a rebellious motorcycle odyssey towards New York, only to find their path violently rerouted. A fatal encounter with an Elvis impersonator gang strands them in the insular town of Jackville, a place hostile to their very existence, let alone their blasphemous endeavors. The film masterfully blends elements of counter-culture rebellion with apocalyptic foreshadowing, creating a unique and unsettling narrative. Jeffrey Gilbert, Tim Gouran, and Todd Licea deliver compelling performances as the unconventional protagonists, navigating a landscape fraught with religious and social conflict. Despite its niche appeal and modest box office, "Gory Gory Hallelujah" offers a thought-provoking, albeit gritty, exploration of faith, rebellion, and the absurd.
