Eugène Lourié's "Gorgo" offers a classic creature feature experience, blending elements of kaiju spectacle with a cautionary tale about human greed. Set against the rugged Irish coast and the bustling streets of London, the film follows the capture of a colossal sea monster, Gorgo, by opportunistic sailors. The narrative quickly escalates as Gorgo's immense mother embarks on a destructive path to reclaim her offspring, providing ample opportunity for thrilling, if dated, special effects. Bill Travers and William Sylvester deliver solid performances as the humans caught between scientific curiosity and commercial exploitation.
