GOOD OL GIRL

Cinemavixion Review

Sarah Brennan Kolb's documentary, "Good Ol Girl," offers a compelling glimpse into the evolving landscape of the American West through the lens of three young Texas cowgirls. The film bravely confronts the enduring mythology of the cowboy, juxtaposing it with the realities faced by women inheriting ranching legacies in a rapidly changing industry. Kolb masterfully captures the quiet determination of her subjects as they navigate tradition and modernity, highlighting the immense weight of heritage. The narrative probes who truly holds authority in this space when the traditional custodians are diminishing, leaving the responsibility to those often overlooked. "Good Ol Girl" is a poignant exploration of resilience, identity, and the redefining of legacy in the heart of Texas, urging viewers to reconsider established narratives and embrace a more inclusive vision of the West.
