GOING MEDIEVAL: INSIDE THE LIVES OF MEDIEVAL LORDS AND PRIESTS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a fascinating glimpse into the dual pillars of Medieval English society: the Church and the Nobility. It meticulously details the pervasive influence of the Catholic Church, from the humble parish priest serving rural communities to the formidable authority of Archbishops and the Pope. The film also vividly portrays the secular power wielded by the nobility, exploring the lives of figures like the De Vere family at Hedingham Castle. By contrasting the spiritual and martial realms, the documentary provides a rich, textured understanding of medieval life, emphasizing how these two powerful forces shaped the experiences of those who lived in that era.
