GOD'S GUN

Cinemavixion Review

Gianfranco Parolini's "God's Gun" (1976) plunges viewers into a dusty, violence-stricken Western landscape, anchored by a compelling dual performance from Lee Van Cleef. Van Cleef embodies both the gentle priest and his vengeful twin, Lewis, a former bounty hunter drawn into a brutal conflict. The narrative follows the classic revenge Western trope, where the sins of a vicious gang led by Sam Clayton (Jack Palance) necessitate a forceful response. The film's premise, revolving around a priest's brother stepping in to avenge his death, offers a unique twist on the genre's conventions. While perhaps not reaching the heights of the genre's masterpieces, "God's Gun" provides a solid, action-packed experience with a strong central performance and a gritty depiction of frontier justice. It's a commendable entry for fans of Spaghetti Westerns and revenge tales.
