GOD BLESS NEW DIXIE

Cinemavixion Review

Alex Wroten's "God Bless New Dixie" offers a provocative and darkly comedic take on political extremism and personal redemption. The film centers on Ferrari Thunderbird Taylor, a recovering vigilante whose plans for a proposal are derailed by the alarming gubernatorial aspirations of her boyfriend, Harry Shumway. His campaign platform, shockingly advocating for South Carolina's secession, forces Ferrari into a frantic race against time to avert disaster for her relationship and potentially the nation. Anchored by a fearless performance from Breanna Foister, the narrative plunges into the absurdities of fringe politics with a sharp, albeit often crude, wit. While the film's low-budget aesthetic and unapologetic tone might alienate some viewers, its unique premise and unflinching exploration of its themes make it a noteworthy, if unconventional, cinematic experience. The supporting cast, including Chelsea Atkins and Aaron Ballard, effectively navigates the film's chaotic energy, contributing to its singular vision.
