GNOMEBROOK

Cinemavixion Review

Murray Fahey's "Gnomebrook" offers a whimsical dive into the peculiar world of competitive garden gnome artistry. The film captures the vibrant atmosphere of the Annual Australian Garden Gnome Convention, a unique gathering that transforms the quiet mountain town of Glenbrook into a bustling hub for enthusiasts and their prized ceramic companions. With an estimated 2,000 gnomes and 10,000 attendees descending upon the hamlet, the convention is depicted as a surprisingly significant event, with gnomes arriving through every conceivable mode of transport. The documentary, released in 2014, promises a colourful array of characters and a charming, if quirky, look at a passionate subculture. While the film may not boast extensive accolades, its unique subject matter and dedicated focus make it a potentially delightful watch for those intrigued by the unconventional and the miniature.
