GLI INNOCENTI DALLE MANI SPORCHE

Cinemavixion Review

Claude Chabrol directs this 1975 thriller, originally titled 'Gli innocenti dalle mani sporche'. The film centers on Julie, who conspires with her lover to murder her husband, Wormser, and abscond with his fortune. However, their plan unravels disastrously as Wormser, the money, and the lover all vanish, leaving Julie in a precarious and unexpected situation. Chabrol, known for his masterful explorations of bourgeois anxieties and criminal psychology, likely crafts a suspenseful narrative filled with twists and turns, characteristic of his `crise de conscience` thrillers. The presence of Romy Schneider, a frequent Chabrol collaborator, suggests a performance of depth and complexity, likely embodying a character caught in a web of her own making. While the plot summary is brief, it hints at a classic Chabrolian setup: a seemingly simple crime that spirals into moral and psychological chaos.
