GIRLS ON TOUR

Cinemavixion Review

Released in 2002, 'Girls On Tour' offers a fascinating, albeit potentially surface-level, glimpse into the exclusive world of the Sanex WTA women's tennis tour. The documentary explores the immense pressures faced by top players like Anna Kournikova, Jennifer Capriati, and the Williams sisters, highlighting the stark contrast between their glamorous public image and the relentless reality of their professional lives. It delves into the sacrifices demanded by the sport, from demanding schedules and constant travel to the influence of sponsors and parental expectations. While the film promises unique behind-the-scenes access to this 'travelling sorority,' its true impact lies in its portrayal of the arduous journey these athletes undertake in pursuit of fame and fortune. The documentary invites viewers to consider the often-unseen costs of athletic excellence at the highest level.
