GIBBON: THE FORGOTTEN APES IN PERIL

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary, 'Gibbon: The Forgotten Apes in Peril,' delves into the critical state of these remarkable primates. Directed by Elliot Hamioff and released in 2012, the film highlights the intelligence, agility, and acrobatic prowess of gibbons, creatures uniquely adapted to life in the tropical forests of Asia. Sadly, the documentary underscores the dire reality that most gibbon species are now highly endangered, teetering on the brink of extinction. The primary threats identified are the relentless destruction of their vital tropical forest habitats and the persistent hunting of gibbons for food. The film serves as a poignant call to awareness regarding the plight of these fascinating, yet vulnerable, apes.
