GHOSTS OF THE RÉPUBLIQUE

Cinemavixion Review

Jonathon Narducci's "Ghosts of the République" is a poignant documentary that delves into the complex and often arduous journey of same-sex couples seeking to build a family through surrogacy. Confronted by restrictive surrogacy laws in France, the film follows Aurelien and Nicolas as they travel to Las Vegas, a destination that has become a beacon of hope for many. Narducci masterfully captures the emotional and logistical challenges faced by these couples, shedding light on the controversial yet increasingly prevalent surrogacy industry. While the film is a powerful personal story, it also serves as a broader social commentary, prompting viewers to consider the lengths to which individuals will go for the fundamental desire to become parents. The documentary's exploration of love, determination, and the global disparities in reproductive rights makes it a compelling watch.
