GAY COUPLE MURDERED "IN THE NAME OF GOD"

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the heart of Fiji, a nation grappling with its colonial past, ethnic divisions, and stark class differences. Through the lens of a tragic murder, it unfurls the complex narrative of two disparate families, exposing the raw undercurrents of a "Pacific paradise" often masked by its idyllic image. The film bravely confronts themes of faith twisted into violence, as seen in the brutal murder of John Scott, a prominent figure in Fiji's Red Cross, and his partner. It’s a poignant exploration of how history, politics, and societal fault lines can converge to create devastating consequences. The narrative is a somber yet essential examination of the human condition within a community striving for identity and peace amidst turmoil.
