FURY OF ACHILLES

Cinemavixion Review

Marino Girolami's "Fury of Achilles" offers a compelling, albeit focused, glimpse into the epic saga of the Trojan War, drawing directly from Homer's Iliad. While many films tackle the entirety of the conflict, this 1962 Italian production wisely centers its narrative on the legendary warrior Achilles and his pivotal role, particularly the rift with Agamemnon that profoundly impacts the Greek forces. The performances, notably from Jacques Bergerac as Achilles and Gordon Mitchell, lend a certain gravitas that elevates it beyond typical peplum fare. Its adherence to the source material provides a richer thematic exploration than many contemporaries. While it may not possess the grandeur of later epics, "Fury of Achilles" stands as a respectable and engaging historical drama, worthy of discovery for its focused portrayal of heroism and conflict.
