FROM THE DEPTHS

Cinemavixion Review

Jose Montesinos's "From the Depths" is a chilling descent into the psyche of a survivor, masterfully exploring the suffocating grip of trauma. Following a harrowing shark attack that claims the lives of her loved ones, a young woman finds herself ensnared in a waking nightmare. The film excels in its psychological portrayal, blurring the lines between the terrifying reality of her grief and the visceral horrors of her subconscious. Angelica Briones delivers a compelling performance, anchoring the narrative with a raw vulnerability as her character grapples with guilt, loss, and the relentless specter of the predator that stalks her dreams. The cinematography effectively amplifies the protagonist's isolation, using the vast, unforgiving ocean as a potent visual metaphor for her internal turmoil. While the film's IMDb rating suggests a niche appeal, its potent atmosphere and thoughtful exploration of trauma make it a compelling watch for those drawn to psychological thrillers that linger long after the credits roll.
