FREEZING DEATHS: INSIDE CANADA’S WORST POLICE SCANDAL

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the heart of a deeply disturbing chapter in Canadian history, specifically focusing on the "starlight tours" that tragically led to the deaths of Indigenous men in Saskatoon. The narrative is anchored by the harrowing survival of Darrell Night, whose ordeal shed light on the alleged practice of police abandoning individuals in sub-zero temperatures. The film unflinchingly examines the devastating consequences of these actions, not just for the victims, Rodney Naistus and Lawrence Wagner, but for their families and the broader Indigenous communities. Through this lens, the documentary prompts a crucial societal introspection into systemic racism, the corrupting influence of unchecked power, and the persistent struggles faced by Indigenous peoples in Canada. It is a vital, albeit somber, exploration that demands attention and reflection.
