FREAK

Cinemavixion Review

Bianca Crespo's "FREAK" plunges viewers into a chilling narrative of psychological unraveling. The film centers on Ava, a writer seeking solace in a secluded Pennsylvania cabin after a traumatic Los Angeles experience. However, this supposed sanctuary becomes a breeding ground for escalating dread, as the lines between reality and delusion blur. Crespo masterfully crafts an atmosphere of mounting tension, utilizing the isolated setting to amplify Ava's internal turmoil. The performances, particularly from Amelia Duncombe, are central to the film's success, conveying a palpable sense of vulnerability and growing paranoia. While the narrative delves into classic horror tropes, it does so with a focus on character and psychological depth, making "FREAK" a compelling watch for those who appreciate a slow-burn descent into terror.
