FORTRESS

Cinemavixion Review

"Fortress" plunges viewers into the harrowing realities of aerial combat during World War II, centering on the poignant journey of a young, inexperienced pilot thrust into command of a B-17 Flying Fortress. Based on actual events, the film meticulously reconstructs the dynamics of a tight-knit Irish American crew grappling with loss and the immense pressure of wartime missions. Bug Hall delivers a compelling performance as the new leader, navigating the challenges of earning the respect of his seasoned men while facing the constant specter of death over Sicily. The narrative skillfully balances the grand scale of war with intimate character development, exploring themes of courage, camaraderie, and the harsh transition from naivety to seasoned command. This is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit amidst the chaos of conflict.
