FOR THE LOVE OF GEORGE

Cinemavixion Review

In "For the Love of George," director Maria Burton (with co-director Nadia Jordan) presents a charmingly eccentric comedy that hinges on a relatable, albeit extreme, fantasy. The film follows a woman who, after a painful betrayal by her husband, embarks on a transatlantic quest for a different kind of romantic fulfillment, setting her sights on none other than Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney. Nadia Jordan, who also co-wrote the screenplay, delivers a performance that is both vulnerable and determined, anchoring the film's comedic premise with genuine emotional weight. Rex Lee and Rosanna Arquette provide strong supporting turns, adding depth and humor to the narrative. While the premise leans into wish fulfillment, the film explores themes of self-discovery and resilience in the face of heartbreak. Despite its modest production and reception, "For the Love of George" offers a lighthearted yet poignant journey that celebrates the pursuit of happiness, even when the destination is a star-struck dream.
