FOLK STRANGE TALK: WATER MONKEY

Cinemavixion Review

"Folk Strange Talk: Water Monkey" delves into the chilling Chinese folklore of "water ghosts" or "water monkeys," spectral entities born from tragic drownings and fueled by resentment. The narrative unfolds in the secluded Tianshui Village during the Republican period, where a seemingly peaceful existence is shattered by a series of bizarre occurrences after the return of a great grandfather. The film promises a descent into supernatural terror, exploring themes of vengeance, reincarnation, and the lingering darkness of unresolved deaths. While the director is not credited, the premise suggests a focus on atmospheric dread and the psychological impact of the supernatural on a close-knit community. This tale of spectral lure and eternal suffering invites viewers to ponder the ancient fears that reside in the depths.
