FIVE GUNS WEST

Cinemavixion Review

Roger Corman's "Five Guns West" plunges viewers into a harsh, unforgiving desert landscape where desperation breeds conflict. Dorothy Malone delivers a compelling performance as Shalee Jethro, a woman caught in the crossfire of five outlaws converging on her family's stagecoach station. The tension escalates as the men's greed and internal strife turn Shalee into a pawn. The film gains an intriguing layer with the revelation of John Lund's Govern Sturges, a Confederate officer with his own agenda, adding a layer of espionage to the classic Western tropes. While perhaps not a landmark of the genre, Corman's early work here showcases a knack for gritty storytelling and character-driven drama, offering a solid, if brutal, cinematic experience that resonates with the stark realities of the Old West.
