FIRETRAIL

Cinemavixion Review

Christopher Forbes' "Firetrail" plunges viewers into the harrowing landscape of the American Civil War, seen through the weary eyes of a Confederate captain. The film meticulously chronicles the relentless advance of the Union army across South Carolina, a force of destruction that leaves scorched earth and shattered lives in its wake. As the captain is called to the front lines, the narrative artfully intertwines the brutal realities of combat with the mounting personal toll on his home life. This dual focus amplifies the soldier's struggles, presenting a poignant character study amidst the grander sweep of historical conflict. Jezibell Anat, Gabriel Baxley, and Debra Carlsen deliver grounded performances that anchor the film's emotional core, making "Firetrail" a compelling, if somber, exploration of duty and sacrifice.
