El Puma, a seasoned Mexican desert guide, finds himself entangled in a perilous expedition through the Indian badlands of Mexico. Tasked with escorting Professor Lucious Lloyd and his niece, Marian, the latter being the sole translator of her murdered father's Aztec diary, El Puma navigates treacherous terrain. When the professor is found dead, a knife wielded as the murder weapon implicates El Puma. Federal Investigator Magpie, harboring suspicions due to El Puma's true identity as the missing former agent 'Lightnin' Bill' Carson, believes his old friend is guilty. Carson, now forced to clear his name, must unravel the mystery behind the expedition and his own disappearance years prior, the same year Marian's father was killed.
