FEAR BLOOD AND GOLD

Cinemavixion Review

Oliver Caspersen's "Fear Blood and Gold" plunges viewers into the unforgiving landscape of 1846 California, following the ill-fated quest of Oscar Malle and his slave, Sancho Panza. Driven by the allure of gold and a hefty bounty, their journey into the Sierras unearths not only riches but also the darker facets of human nature. The narrative skillfully explores themes of greed, desperation, and the psychological toll of survival. Caspersen, who also directs, crafts a tense atmosphere, punctuated by the stark beauty of the wilderness and the ever-present threat of capture or betrayal. The performances navigate the complex moral terrain, depicting characters pushed to their limits. This film offers a gripping, albeit grim, exploration of a gold rush fever dream that quickly sours into a nightmare.
