FASTING TO DEATH

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the heart of political dissent in Turkey, showcasing the harrowing lengths to which young individuals will go to preserve their integrity. 'Fasting To Death' chronicles the stories of hunger strikers like Fikret and Deniz, whose belief in communism fuels their extreme protest against a state intolerant of any criticism. The film unflinchingly depicts the brutal realities of this struggle, referencing 'Operation Return to Life' and the violent prison raids. It highlights the personal cost, as seen in Hacer's severe disfigurement, and the ultimate sacrifices made by 32 inmates who perished, 26 killed by security forces, and 6 who chose self-immolation over relocation. This is a stark portrayal of political repression and the profound human will to resist.
