FAMILY GAMES

Cinemavixion Review

Suzuya Bobo's "Family Games" presents a compelling, albeit contained, exploration of familial discord and buried secrets. The narrative centers on Sloane and her boyfriend Barrett's disruptive return to her childhood home, their intentions set on sabotaging her father Roan's remarriage. As the story unfolds, the veneer of a simple familial conflict cracks, revealing deeper, more complex secrets that cast a long shadow over the characters' futures. Megan Boone, Larry Bryggman, and Alison Fraser deliver performances that navigate the delicate balance between simmering resentment and poignant vulnerability. While the film may not boast grand spectacle, its strength lies in its intimate focus on character dynamics and the unsettling atmosphere it cultivates. The subtle tension and the gradual unearthing of truths make "Family Games" a thought-provoking watch for those who appreciate character-driven dramas.
