FACCIAMO PARADISO

Cinemavixion Review

Mario Monicelli's "Facciamo paradiso" (1995) offers a sweeping biographical portrait of Claudia Bertelli, charting her life from her bourgeois Milanese origins and English education to her evolution as a single mother, feminist, doctor in developing nations, and finally, a mystical nun. Margherita Buy delivers a compelling performance as Bertelli, navigating the character's multifaceted journey. While the film garnered one nomination and a modest 5.6 rating on IMDb, it stands as a testament to Monicelli's skill in exploring complex human experiences across decades. The narrative, penned by a team including Leonardo Benvenuti and Suso Cecchi D'Amico, provides a rich tapestry of a life lived fully and unconventionally. Despite its limited box office and critical reception, "Facciamo paradiso" invites viewers to contemplate the diverse paths one life can take, resonating with themes of rebellion, personal growth, and spiritual seeking.
