FACCIAMO PARADISO

Cinemavixion Review

Mario Monicelli's "Facciamo Paradiso" (1995) offers a poignant, albeit fictionalized, journey through the life of Claudia Bertelli. The film, penned by a trio of accomplished screenwriters including Suso Cecchi D'Amico, navigates Bertelli's existence from her bourgeois Milanese upbringing to her later years as a doctor in developing countries and a contemplative nun. Starring Margherita Buy, Lello Arena, and Tigana Camara, the movie explores themes of rebellion, motherhood, feminism, and spirituality. While the narrative spans decades, it remains anchored by Monicelli's characteristic blend of social commentary and humanistic observation. Despite receiving a single nomination, "Facciamo Paradiso" invites reflection on the diverse paths one life can take, anchored by strong performances and a thoughtful script.
