EXTRA INNINGS

Cinemavixion Review

Set against the vibrant tapestry of 1960s Brooklyn, "Extra Innings" is a poignant and deeply personal drama that delves into the complexities of family, faith, and the pursuit of individual dreams. Albert Dabah's directorial vision, drawing from his own family's experiences, masterfully navigates the delicate balance between unwavering familial devotion and the yearning for self-discovery. The narrative centers on a young man torn between his Syrian-Jewish heritage, marked by the shadow of mental illness within his family, and his burgeoning passion for baseball. The film is imbued with a powerful sense of place and time, offering a sensitive portrayal of cultural expectations clashing with personal aspirations. With a notable cast including Geraldine Singer and Aidan Pierce Brennan, "Extra Innings" resonates with authenticity and emotional depth, exploring themes of identity, sacrifice, and the enduring power of hope against a backdrop of profound personal and familial challenges. It's a compelling story that invites reflection on the sacrifices made in the name of tradition and the courage it takes to forge one's own path.
