EXTORTION SCAM

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the disturbing underbelly of the digital age, exposing the insidious nature of extortion scams that proliferate on the very platforms designed for connection. It highlights the chilling origins of sextortion, a crime conceived in the Philippines by Maria Caparas, who leveraged social media to build a lucrative blackmail empire with devastating consequences, including numerous suicides. Beyond personal exploitation, the film also uncovers a parallel criminal enterprise: the lucrative trade in illegal and endangered animals, often disguised as innocuous social media posts. This multi-billion dollar industry, operating from Malaysia and beyond, poses a significant threat to global conservation efforts, jeopardizing the survival of countless species. The film serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive dangers lurking behind our screens and the urgent need for awareness and action.
