EVIL EYES

Cinemavixion Review

In "Evil Eyes," director Mark Atkins crafts a suspenseful descent into the uncanny, where the very act of creation becomes a conduit for terror. Adam Baldwin delivers a compelling performance as Jeff Stenn, a screenwriter grappling with financial woes and a creative block, who accepts a challenging project: a screenplay detailing a decades-old serial killer. The film masterfully explores the unsettling theme of art imitating life, or perhaps, life being dictated by art, as the chilling events Stenn writes begin to manifest in his own reality. Udo Kier adds his signature eccentric flair as the enigmatic producer George, further deepening the mystery. While the narrative treads familiar ground in the meta-thriller genre, its execution, particularly Baldwin's portrayal of a man losing grip on reality, makes "Evil Eyes" a thought-provoking and atmospheric watch for those intrigued by the darker corners of the creative psyche.
