EROSION

Cinemavixion Review

Ann Lu's 2005 drama, "Erosion," delves into the stifling ennui of a woman trapped in a loveless marriage and a mundane existence. Irene, played with quiet desperation, finds a temporary escape in a clandestine affair with Gabe. Their illicit encounters are not merely sexual but a shared transgression, a dangerous game of 'stealing lives' by breaking into the homes of strangers. This voyeuristic escapade serves as a desperate attempt to outrun their respective pasts, pushing the boundaries of their connection and their grip on reality. While the film was recognized with one award, its reception, as indicated by an IMDb rating of 4.2/10, suggests a challenging journey for its audience, perhaps reflecting the bleakness of its themes. "Erosion" offers a stark portrayal of existential escape and the inevitable confrontation with one's own reality.
